Since completing his MBA, Les has been involved in a number of structured change programmes with companies such as Thames Water, Aliaxis SA, Safestyle UK and Yodel.
Les has more than 30 years of Board level experience primarily gained within rapidly expanding SMEs. He has acted as CFO, Finance Director, Operations Director, General Manager and Special Projects Director.
He has hands-on experience within two businesses that grew from start-up to £100m turnover within a ten-year timeframe. He was also Finance Director for a third business that appeared in the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 Listings for three successive years.
Since leaving the KPMG Consulting division to move to a client, Les has experienced an incredibly wide range of business scenarios. These are listed on the Interim CFO / Finance Director page. These have included business acquisitions, disposals, preparing a business for sale, preparing a business for flotation, closing manufacturing plants down, transferring plants, establishing new greenfield business streams and a host of others.
His experience has been gained within a number of sectors including importing and B2B distribution, manufacturing & B2B distribution, wholesaling, engineering, installation and servicing, utilities, logistics, consulting and, during the last 5 years, online retailing and e-commerce.
Over the last twenty years, Les has been acting as an Interim Finance Director and he has successfully completed 19 assignments. The great advantage of carrying out interim assignments is that the Interim Manager experiences different sectors, cultures, sizes of business and range of issues. Of course, he has also experienced a large number of CEO leaders and leadership styles.
The combination of consulting, change management, interim assignments and a multitude of highly testing scenarios means that Les is extremely well placed to aid his clients and add value to their businesses. His focus on performance improvement and working capital management brings tangible results.
Up and coming FDs and FCs are also benefitting from his experience. Les likes nothing more than to help new or inexperienced or ‘blinkered’ FDs and FCs to get away from behind their computers and get involved with their business.
